Who We Are

Christ Episcopal Church is a Protestant church. We are the only Episcopal Church in Stanly County. Members travel to the “charming little bluestone” church in Albemarle from the far reaches of Stanly County, as well as from neighboring counties. Christ Episcopal Church is a Parish in the Diocese of North Carolina, a Diocese of The Episcopal Church and a part of the Anglican Communion.

The members of Christ Church are as unique in background, education, and vocation as each piece of bluestone that comprises our physical building. Our members range in age from over 100 years to just a few months. With such variety in a small population of about 120 folks, finding a new friend is practically a given.

What We Believe

As Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and we believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person. Because of our Savior Jesus’ death and resurrection, we believe in repentance and renewal, the forgiveness of sins, and life everlasting.

We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion.

Our worship retains ancient structure and traditions practiced by the earliest Christians, while also including the possibilities of more contemporary music and forms.

Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians.

We uphold and affirm the Bible with Christ at the center, and worship God using the Bible and The Book of Common Prayer as guides.

Both men and women, including those who are married, may qualify for ordination as deacons, priests and bishops.

All are welcome to find a spiritual home at Christ Episcopal Church!
